DUPL Temporary Constitution (Match Rules)

  1. Organising a Match
    1. Home team captain is responsible for organising the game
    2. The home team captain must contact the away team captain at least 48 hours before the match. This can be through social media, but the best method is by email
    3. No attempt of contact results in the away team receiving a walkover in their favour
    4. If there is no response from the away captain, then the home team receives a walkover in their favour
    5. Evidence of a walkover must show: the date of the message, and the lack of response from the other captain
    6. To submit a walkover, contact the Pool League and attach the evidence along with a brief explanation of what happened. E.g., The captain of Trevs A did not respond to my message (screenshot attached) before the match, therefore we claim a walkover

  1. Rearranging a Match
    1. To rearrange a match, the team asking for a rearrangement must ask at least 48 hours before their originally scheduled match
    2. The team asking for rearrangement can provide up to three alternative dates for the match
    3. If the other team cannot make any of these dates, then the team who could not meet the originally scheduled date of the match will concede a walkover
    4. The Pool League informed of the new date for the rearranged match
    5. The deadline for rearranged match result submission is 1 week (168 hours) after the start time of the match

  1. Match Layout
    1. The format of a match is as follows: home team plays 12345 12345, away team plays 12345 34521
    2. Teams must attempt the Beer Leg, if a team does not want to play for a pint (or equivalent) they must state so before the beginning of the first frame and agree with the other captain
    3. Beer leg times within 3 seconds of one another must either be replayed or decided by with a lag
    4. Beer leg drinks should be cost no more than the cheapest pint at the college bar/venue + £1.50 e.g., if Trevelyan Bar’s cheapest drink is £2.30, then the maximum a beer leg pint should cost is £3.80.
    5. Below is a standard match layout

  1. Players
    1. Team captains must add any players who are not already in the team roster, either by messaging the league or by your captain logging in and adding the player themselves (currently unavailable)
    2. Contact the other team captain if their players are not on the system
    3. Durham alumni can compete for their college in the Pool League, the same as any other player
    4. Players cannot sub down into a lower team. For example, a Butler A player cannot play for Butler D even if they are in the same league. There is a one-point deduction per frame played by this player for both Butler A and Butler D
    5. To limit the number of walkovers, players from higher teams can sub into lower teams called an ‘illegal’ sub. However, they must inform the other team captain and the Pool League in advance, plus they automatically concede the frames they play
    6. The ‘illegal’ sub can compete in the beer leg with no consequences

  1. Result Submission
    1. Submit results through the league website or by contacting the Pool League
    2. The deadline for result submission is 1 week (168 hours) after the start time of the match
    3. Rearranged matches also have a deadline one week after the start time of the match. E.g., If Trevs A vs Chads A rearranges from 8pm Thursday 13th October to 8pm Wednesday 19th October, then the deadline for that result submission is at 8pm Wednesday 26th October
    4. The submission of a result is the responsibility of the home team captain
    5. There is a 1-point deduction for late result submission
    6. If the away team captain is non-compliant leading to a late result submission, send evidence of this to the league and then the away team will receive the deduction instead

  1. Result Verification
    1. A new feature to the league
    2. Once captains can log into the Pool League website, they can verify results themselves
    3. This is to check that the other team captain has entered the results and names correctly
    4. If the other captain has not entered the result correctly, deny the result and tell them what to correct

  1. Paying League Fees
    1. All team captains receive an email during first term explaining how to pay league fees
    2. The fee is £10 per league team
    3. Payment must include a reference stating the team (or college) name
    4. The deadline for league fee payment is the 1st of January
    5. Failure to pay league fees before this deadline results in a one-point deduction per week overdue
    6. Failure to pay league fees by the end of the season, results in removal of that team from the league
    7. There are no league fees for the friendly ladder
    8. Paying league fees automatically enters your players into the University Singles Tournament and your team into the Team Trophy Tournament (Pool League FA Cup)

  1. DUPL Singles Tournament Rules
    1. Every player in the Pool League is entered into the DUPL Singles Tournament
    2. This is found on the website under Information --> Tournament
    3. Deadlines for RESULTS are found on the Challonge link, these are strict to make sure the tournament ends on time
    4. In the same area as the deadline will be the required race length e.g., the winner of a race to 3 is the first player to win 3 frames of pool
    5. Send the result to dupoolleague@gmail.com as follows: DUPL Singles Ed Knapton wins 5-0 against Myles Chandler
    6. If you receive no response from your opponent within 24 hours before the deadline, email this evidence to the pool league at dupoolleague@gmail.com and a walkover will be given in your favour
    7. If neither player attempts to organise the match, both players will be eliminated from the tournament and a bye replace them
    8. There is no excuse for not contacting the other player. Methods include searching their name on Facebook, searching for them through the Durham Outlook email, or even contacting college presidents using the email list on the website (if you know what college they’re in)

  1. DUPL Team Trophy Tournament Rules (DUPL FA Cup)
    1. Every Pool League team is entered into the DUPL Team Trophy Tournament
    2. This is a team knockout tournament (like the football FA Cup) with matches in the same format as League matches
    3. Matches should be organised with at least 24 hours notice for the other team
    4. If the match finishes 5-5, each team captain selects one player (including themselves) to play a decider frame. The players will lag to determine who breaks in the decider frame
    5. Send the result as follows to dupoolleague@gmail.com: Trophy match Trevs B win against Butler A
    6. The tournament link is found on the website under Information --> Tournament
    7. Deadlines for RESULTS are found on the Challonge link, these are strict to make sure the tournament ends on time
    8. If you receive no response from your opponent within 24 hours before the deadline, email this evidence to the pool league at dupoolleague@gmail.com and a walkover will be given in your favour
